Day 51

In the morning we took a short bus trip to Kashgar Livestock market where we saw various animals brought in for trading.

There were cattle, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys and even some camels. Various other trades were selling things from rope harnesses for the animals, small clay ovens, pitch forks, and even shoes.

We even saw one of the cattle get slaughtered there and then. We can only presume that it must have got a serious injury as it got out of the truck and they therefore decided to put it down straight away. They simply cut its throat and after a while someone came with a small tuk tuk truck and took it away, no doubt a local butcher.

After the market we stopped at the Kashgar Folk Handicraft Center that does silk carpets and Jade jewellery. We saw people making the carpets and carving the Jade and looked around the items for sale, but I didn’t buy anything!
